Product Description

BTXJ Series Online Transformer Core Grounding Current Monitor - Real-Time Fault Detection &
Product Description

Our product is a complete solution for the online monitoring and diagnosis of grounding current of high-voltage transformer cores and clamping parts, suitable for power transformers and traction transformers at voltage levels of 110KV and above. The product passes the EMC electromagnetic interference test in accordance with the GB/T17626 industry standard, and mainly consists of current sensors, on-site collection units, and backend analysis systems. Real-time monitoring data is processed and analyzed, then transmitted to the main station via a local area network, capable of outputting 4-20mA signals and complies with the State Grid or Southern Grid 61850 communication protocol.

Monitoring reasons: Core failure may cause local overheating, insulation breakdown or even explosion. Monitoring can provide early warning to avoid system paralysis.

FAQ

1. What is the BTXJ Series Transformer Core Grounding Monitor?

Answer: The BTXJ Series is an online, real-time monitoring device that continuously measures grounding current in transformer cores to detect insulation faults, brush wear, and circulating currents-preventing catastrophic failures.

2. Why monitor transformer core grounding current?

Answer: Excessive grounding current can indicate:
Insulation breakdown (risk of core damage)
Brush/contact wear (causing arcing)
Unbalanced magnetic flux (leading to hotspots)
Early detection saves repair costs and avoids outages.

3. What key parameters does the BTXJ monitor?

Answer:
Grounding current (0-10A range, ±1% accuracy)
Current trends (spikes, harmonics)
Temperature (optional)
Event logs with timestamps

4. How does the BTXJ detect faults?

Answer: It uses:
 Threshold alarms (user-set limits)
 Trend analysis (sudden current increases)
IEEE C57.91 guidelines to classify severity

5. Can it integrate with existing systems?

Answer: Yes! The BTXJ supports:
4-20mA/RS485 outputs (SCADA/EMS)
IoT cloud platforms (remote alerts via SMS/email)
Modbus/TCP protocols

6. What transformers is it compatible with?

Answer: All oil-immersed power transformers (35kV-1000kV) with core grounding straps/brushes.

7. How is it installed?

  • Answer:
  • Clamp CT sensor around grounding cable
  • Connect to power & comms (24VDC or AC)
  • Configure thresholds via HMI/software
(No transformer shutdown required!)

8. What's the difference between BTXJ and lab testing?

BTXJ Online Monitor Lab Testing
24/7 real-time data Snapshot measurements
Instant fault alerts Manual analysis delays
Tracks gradual degradation Misses sudden faults

9. How accurate is the BTXJ?

Answer: ±1% of reading (±0.1A) with temperature compensation for reliability.

10. What maintenance does it need?

Answer: Zero! The BTXJ is maintenance-free with self-diagnostics. Just verify calibration annually.

11. Can it monitor multiple transformers?

Answer: Yes-deploy multiple BTXJ units and centralize data via cloud/SCADA.

12. Where is it used?

Answer:
Substations
Wind farm transformers
Industrial plants
HVDC converter stations
